The First Implantation of the VitaFlow Liberty TAVI System in Serbia at the "Dedinje" Institute

The "Dedinje" Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases, renowned for its extensive experience in performing TAVI procedures, has achieved another significant milestone in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Today, for the first time in Serbia, the VitaFlow Liberty valve, produced by MicroPort, was successfully implanted, showcasing the pinnacle of modern technology in aortic valve replacement.

The procedure was carried out with the mentoring support of proctor Dr. Zhang Jui, who assisted the Institute’s team led by Dr. Mihajlo Farkić, a cardiology subspecialist and interventional cardiologist. The team achieved outstanding results—no paravalvular leakage and an average pressure gradient of only 3 mmHg.

The TAVI procedure (transcatheter aortic valve implantation) is a revolutionary method of aortic valve replacement that eliminates the need for open-heart surgery, allowing patients faster recovery and reduced risk of complications.

Marlo Medic, as the exclusive distributor of MicroPort in Serbia, proudly supported this advancement in Serbian medicine. Notably, the procedure was funded by the Republic Health Insurance Fund (RFZO), enabling patients to access the most modern therapy available.
