Marlo Medic Supports Innovative Procedure at Hospital "Sveti Vračevi" in Bijeljina
The "Sveti Vračevi" Hospital in Bijeljina successfully implemented a new method of laser stone fragmentation using a flexible ureteroscope for the first time in the region yesterday. This advanced procedure, known as endoscopic method, allows for stone fragmentation with a laser without the need for an open incision.
Marlo Medic is pleased to support this innovation through the acquisition of the OTU Digital Flexible Ureteroscope, which was provided to the hospital with the assistance of our partner, Makotron. This equipment enables precise treatment and faster recovery for patients.
Acting Director of the hospital, Prim. Dr. Mikajlo Lazić, expressed gratitude for the support and highlighted the importance of this new method in the operative treatment of calculi. He also praised the work of the urology team and the collaboration with experts such as Prim. Dr. Mirko Jovanović from the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade.
The surgical team, including Dr. Ljubinka Petković, Dr. Dragan Živanović, and other specialists, successfully performed the first procedure using this advanced technology. The success rate of this method worldwide is high, with an estimated efficiency of 93%.
