65 Years of Neurosurgery in Niš

The Clinic for Neurosurgery at the University Clinical Center Niš celebrated its 65th anniversary with a ceremonial academy at the Science-Technology Park, focusing on modern methods in neurosurgery.

The jubilee celebration was attended by the Minister of Health in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Professor Dr. Danica Grujičić, who highlighted the excellent cooperation with colleagues from Niš and announced new investments in equipment for both the Niš clinic and other clinics involved in this branch of medicine. Also present at the ceremony were the Director of the University Clinical Center Niš, Professor Dr. Zoran Perišić, representatives from all clinical centers in Serbia, healthcare institutions associated with the UCC Niš, and numerous guests.

Prof. Dr. Zoran Perišić, the head of the University Clinical Center in Niš, emphasized the significance of neurosurgery in Niš, stating that 65 years stand as the best indication of durability and quality that endures.

The Head of the Clinic for Neurosurgery at the University Clinical Center Niš, Professor Dr. Vesna Nikolov, proud of her colleagues and the clinic she leads, announced novelties for the upcoming period, emphasizing that expertise and equipment are integral parts of the Neurosurgery Clinic.

"Given that we live in the era of technology and electronics, we strive to follow modern global trends, continuously improve ourselves daily, and implement innovations in neurosurgery. The acquisition of neuronavigation is announced, a device that will significantly enhance the precision of neurosurgeons' work. Alongside the equipment, numerous educations and advancements in the field of spinal and cerebral surgery are planned," said Prof. Dr. Nikolov.

Marlo Medic, represented as the distributor of Medtronic, was among the guests and presented Mazor X, a robotic navigation system that combines advanced software, robotic technology, and instrumentation. Mazor X is designed for precise positioning of surgical instruments or spinal implants during spine surgery, allowing neurosurgeons to provide high-quality care to patients.
